BAMBINI: our newest international project
The newest international project of DTV Consultants is called BAMBINI. It was awarded to DTV and our partners end December 2008. BAMBINI is part of the STEER subsidy programme of the European Commission, aimed at stimulating new energy-reducing and energy-friendly ideas in the area of traffic and transport.

What is it about...
In short, BAMBINI aims at stimulating sustainable mobility among young parents. To make mobility more energy-friendly in the future, BAMBINI tries to change the behaviour of the population group that uses the car as their main means of transport: young parents. They, as well as their young children (aged 0-6), are the main target group of this project.
We are looking forward to start this new international project!

DTV Consultants at Viet Traffic in Vietnam
In October 2008 Director Willem Buijs and Advisor Renske Martijnse visited Vietnam. They spend a little less than a week in the capitol Hanoi, where Willem was invited to be the chairman and panel leader at the international conference Viet Traffic.

This was a good opportunity to get to know the traffic problems of this country, to explore the market and to experience contacts. Besides the conference, they had interviews at e.g. the dutch embassy, the University of Transport, the Worldbank and the dutch firm Urban Solutions, that also has an office in Vietnam.
Due to the fast economic growth in Vietnam, many people will exchange their moped for a car. At this moment there are 15 cars and 100 mopeds per 1.000 inhabitants. These numbers will increase strongly, with all kinds of consequences for traffic, that is already chaotic and unsafe the way it is right now.

There is a lot of money available to improve urban transport systems, to expand the road network and to improve road safety. There really is a lot to do. All our interlocutors were positive about our education and training plans in the area of e.g. traffic management and road safety.
In the near future DTV Consultants hopes to be able to contribute to the improvement of the traffic situation in Vietnamese cities.
